Stamped and Died

So The day after Thanksgiving I went to work with a friend of mine to hang some Christmas lights here in Provo. We pulled up to an enormous house and I thought to myself, by the time we finish it will be just about time to take them down. But I hopped out of the truck and started spreading out lights on the grass and seeing which ones worked.

I quickly noticed the concrete was a beautiful Brown and had a stone pattern stamped into it. This the kind of concrete that you have to seal with a clear coat to protect it from the elements. But because of the cool weather and slight rain from over night it was extremely slick. I decided to stay away from it and started hanging lights from a corner where my ladder was set up on the grass.

The job was moving quickly and we were on track to be done within 4 hours. I got to a corner where the roof overhang is above the garage and realized that I was going to have to climb on to this very steep roof that has wood shingles. To say the least I was uncomfortable about it, but I have been on hundreds of roofs in my life and secured my footing and took three steps up the roof hanging on the gutter overhead while stringing the lights as I went. Then I happened my feet left me and my body followed. I grasped with my hands slipping toward the edge of the roof the ladder leaning at the edge to meet me. I kicked the ladder out of the way my arm went into one of the rungs elbow first and my wallet caught on the garage roof rain gutter by the wallet in my pocket.

I thought for a split second maybe ill be okay...then my pocket ripped and the ladder kicked the rest of the way and for a split second my feet hit the ground and I was on my bum wondering if I was alive or dead. I thought for a second that I was dead and had only made it to the Telestial kingdom but then I realized I was still alive and wasn't hurt much at all. I called out to my friend and made him finish that part for me but I was just so glad that the money in my wallet had saved me from any big harm. That's what this existence is all about money, right? The more you have the better padded your bum is.

Last day in a great ward!

Today was my Last Sunday in the BYU 230th ward and I am going to miss so many great people...I just love how the people inmy ward just "lift where they stand" it helps me to know even deeper how alive and true the gospel of Jesus Christ is. I remember on my mission the many epiphanies of how my church was so much different then many others and I can now easily pin point those things and it gives me peace that I am in the right place.

I know that 2009 will be the best year of my life so far I am excited for the changes that are coming including marriage most likely in San Diego, opening my company in Texas and being able to serve many of those people that have been devastated by hurricane Ike, Starting the final year of my undergraduate in August (go class of 2010, :) ) , and many other great things that I will find out about as they come.

I must say that life is good! I get to see much of my family in the next few weeks and that will be a great blessing too.

a month and running

So its been since before the election that I was on here and according to google analytics no one else has been here either! haha! I have been pondering what the focus of this blog is going to be and I feel like it is not something that needs a specific direction or point, political statement or religious purpose, or A Rachel affirmation site:) (I will do that forever though) but because those things are such a part of my life they will be all over this page forever.

Anyway, I just wanted to say how grateful I am for all those in my life and mostly so happy to be marrying the most beautiful woman I have ever known. I love you Rachel!
